Research Area 3: Natural Gas Exploration

Natural Gas Exploration

We have expertise on five areas of natural gas exploration:

  • Determining natural gas drilling locations using integration of multi-geophysics including seismic, EM and magnetic data
  • Reserve estimation by geophysics, geology and well logs
  • Optimization of the exploration cycle from acquisition to decision making by incorporating economic components and objectives
  • Improvement of interpretation and targeting methodologies based on analyzing drilling and production results

Figure (a) the post-stack seismic data can delineate subsurface sandstone ancient channel, which is the potential hydrocarbon reservoir. We can interpret the subsurface structure using seismic and recommended the drilling well locations from seismic inversion and attributes such as AVO, coherence, RMS, et.al. We can also estimate the reservoir reserve using seismic volume and interpretation.

Natural gas exploration using seismic data and attributes. We can integrate geophysics, well logging, and geology to recommend natural gas drilling locations using integration of multi-geophysics including seismic, EM and gravity. Our group has accumulated hundreds drilled well experience, and  Improvement of interpretation and targeting methodology based on analyzing drilling and production results.
